Gabi Kigle-Böckler: Curriculum Vitae

Education: Industrial engineer – University of Munich (graduated in 1987)

1987 – 1997: Employed at BYK-Gardner USA in the position of product manager and technical marketing manager. During this time active member of ASTM D1 (Paint), E12 (Color and Appearance) and subcommittee chairman of D20.40 for optical properties of plastics.

1997 – YTD: Employed at BYK-Gardner GmbH as global business manager with focus on transportation industry.

Presented numerous technical papers at technical societies in the US, Europe and Far East in regards to Color and Appearance Control.

High focus on close inter-relationship with key accounts in the automotive industry to define their color and appearance needs for new products.

Active member of international standard and industry organizations.


Sandra Weixel: Curriculum Vitae

Education: Textile engineer – University of Kaiserslautern (graduated in 1991)

1991 – 1995: Employed at Datacolor international in the position of application specialist for color measurement in the textile and paint industry. During this time I was responsible for instrument installation and trouble shooting.

1995 – YTD: Employed at BYK-Gardner GmbH in Germany in the position of product manager color and manager of the application department. In this position I focus my activities on the marketing of portable and bench-top color instruments on a worldwide basis. I am also an active member of DIN / ISO groups related to coatings and color topics and give technical papers at various paint / plastic and color societies in Europe, Asia and the US. Besides these educational activities I always worked closely with the major paint and plastic companies to define their color and appearance needs for new products.

Werner Rudolf Cramer: Curriculum Vitae

Werner Rudolf Cramer studied industrial chemistry at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster. He started his freelancer career as a designer of car colors before he switched to a more scientific occupation of colors. Especially interference pigments became his main topic of work. He influenced the development of new instruments as well as new pigments by his ideas and publications. He was co-founder of a new committee of ASTM which published in 2008 the “Standard Practice for Multiangle Color Measurement of Interference Pigments”.


Francisco Miguel Martínez-Verdú: Curriculum Vitae

Francisco Martínez-Verdú received his BS in Physics (Optics branch) from the University of Valencia at Valencia in 1993 and his PhD in Physics from Technical University of Catalonia at Terrassa (Barcelona, Spain) in 2001. Since 1998 he teaches Vision Sciences at Faculty of Sciences in the University of Alicante (Spain). His work has primarily focused on Color Science and Technology, and Visual Ergonomics. He is the current coordinator of the Color & Vision Group (http://web.ua.es/en/gvc) of the University of Alicante. He is a member of AIC and EOS.


Carlos Vignolo: Currículum Vitae

Dr. Carlos Vignolo, head of the Color Management Dept. for Automotive Coatings at BASF Coatings, studied physics at the University of Buenos Aires, and did his PhD Thesis in Germany, obtaining his degree in 1991. Since then, he was working at BASF in the area of color and colorimetry, the first years in South America and since 2000 in Germany.


Thomas Dauser: Curriculum Vitae

Thomas Dauser studied chemistry which he finished with the degree of an engineer. In 1986 he started in the process department at AUDI. In the beginning he was responsible for the development of polyurethane fillers, basecoat – clearcoat systems, powder clearcoat and for the color approval of batches. Parallel to that task he built up the test procedures for these paint materials (e.g. carwash test, subzero stonechip test, colorimetric). Beginning 90’s his task shifted more and more to color measurement and appearance measurement. As part of that task he developed tolerances for appearance and color and effect. At this moment, he is leader of several workgroups within Volkswagen dealing with color, color measurement and appearance measurement. He also is leader of the workgroup Colorimetric within the Association of German Automobile Producers.


Juanfra Fores Raga: Curriculum Vitae

Juanfra Fores Raga studied IT Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and cofounded "EINES Quality Engineering & Vision Systems" in 1992. His current role is Business Development Manager. EINES has been developing innovative vision solutions for the automotive industry and is proud to have installed its "state-of-the-art" solutions worldwide. It has several patents due to their commitment for innovation and 3 Henry Ford awards as technological partners in different inline automated solutions such as Inline Flush & Gap measurement or Inline Spot Weld checking processes.


Salvador Urpina: Curriculum Vitae

He works at DELTA TECNIC,S.A. from the year 1991 as a technical commercial responsible from ECKART Pigments in Spain for the markets of automotive coatings, powder coatings and graphic arts industry.


Luis Martínez Barrios: Curriculum Vitae

He studied Chemistry in the Central University of Barcelona. From 23 years ago he has worked with several profiles (technical, product, quality control manager) on automotive sector for many companies: Herberts / DuPont and AKZO NOBEL. At this moment, he is the technical manager for automotive plastic coatings in Azko Nobel Coatings in Spain. He also is member of the Advisory Board of the Chemical Engineering at the University of Barcelona.


Tin Nguyen Trung: Curriculum Vitae

He started to study chemistry in France and I finished his study with the PhD Thesis in Essen (Germany) in collaboration with Dupont Perfomance Coatings (Wuppertal/Germany) in 2004. Since then, he started at PSA in the area of paint application and appearance. Since 2008, I have in charge the development and industrialization of new colors for all PSA plants. Parallel to his work at PSA, he is a regular member of the Orange Peel's work group, managed by BYK Gardner.


Meritxell Vilaseca: Curriculum Vitae

Meritxell completed her BSc Degree in Physics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2000 and received a Ph.D. in Physics from the Technical University of Catalonia in 2005. She completed her Degree in Optics and Optometry at the Technical University of Catalonia in 1996. She is currently working as a professor at the Faculty of Optics and Optometry of the Technical University of Catalonia, where she teaches vision sciences. She is also a researcher in optical engineering at the Center for Sensors, Instruments and Systems Development of the same university. Her work focuses on color imaging (device calibration and characterization, color management), industrial colorimetry and visual optics.


Juan Carlos Fernández Bécares: Curriculum Vitae

He started working in PPG 19 years ago, and since then his professional career has been linked to investigate and process improvements in color matching. Currently he is a Color Group Manager in PPG Valladolid coatings Plant. His talk is related with the future and current innovations in PPG Ibérica on color management and design for automotive sector.
