WELCOME
This workshop is held in the framework of the European Science Foundation programme "Nanoscience Engineering and Superconductivity (NES)". It will take place in the Hotel "Hesperia Lucentum", in Alicante (Spain), during June 4-7, 2008.The aim of this workshop is to present how different microscopic imaging techniques (STM/STS, MFM, SHP, Lorentz microscopy,...) apply to the study of superconductors, in particular in situations presenting an interplay with competing orders, like magnetism, involving nanoscopic dimensions. Recent advances in the theoretical approach to these problems are also in the scope of the workshop.
Invited lecturers will present a comprehensive overview on local probe techniques and theoretical developments involving the superconducting state at nanoscales.
The organization will provide a limited number of grants to Ph.D. students and young researchers. Posters contributions are welcome. The number of participants will be in the range of 50.
